“Good morning, baby,” he whispered.

He brought my earlobe into his mouth and bit down softly. It felt incredible, but I didn't want to give him the satisfaction of knowing that. So I kept my eyes shut.

“Hmm... I know you're awake, Belle.” He kissed my neck. “We're playing pretend, are we? Okay, let's play.”

I wasn't in the mood for games. Well, I didn't want to be in the mood, but I also couldn't deny the heat starting to build between my thighs… I felt him move so that he was on top of me. I instinctively spread my legs just a little so he could put his body between them.

Belle wakes up in Paris next to a gorgeous stranger in a room she doesn’t recognize. As she examines the man next to her, with the face of a Greek god, she realizes that she doesn’t remember how she got there. Was it an innocent one night stand? Or is the truth far darker?

Liezel’s Thoughts on Book 1:

I purchased the first three books through Galatea. The reason why I purchased it was because I saw it multiple times across multiple social media feeds. Many comments mentioned that it was one of the best shifter series that they’ve ever read and because curiosity got the best of me, I decided to give it a go.

I normally can read anything but I struggled with the first book. The heroine of the story was extremely maddening. I enjoy reading stories that involve strong female characters and Belle was the complete opposite.

As I continued through the story, I thought maybe she would get better then I found other aspects that I could not get past. For me, a lot of the chapters were repetitive, too long and drawn out. Hopefully, the second book is better.

Liezel’s Thoughts on Book 2:

I mentioned in my review for the first book how I thought the heroine was weak, that eventually changes in this book. I enjoyed how she became into her powers BUT I thought it was weird that there wasn’t some explanation how she became fae. She was a distant descendant? Was reincarnation confirmed?

All of the romance aspects were extremely detailed I wish that the author would have spend more time explaining this part of Belle’s story as well.

It was mostly the last part of the book that grabbed by interest. When Belle finally does something rather than stayed locked in a room playing damsel in distress. Come to find out, she had so much power than anticipated. Again, I would have loved the story more if that aspect of her life was elaborated instead of “slow burn” that felt so repetitive to me.

Almost all of the comments on Facebook and IG say that this was the best shifter series that they’ve read. For me, it was a sub par read and in my opinion over-hyped. There are definitely far more amazing shifter series out there.
