They said write what you know so that's what I did. I wrote dirty, I wrote erotic, I wrote the truth.
And then they called me a liar. But it's not me who's lying, it's them.
Our story isn't for everyone. It's not even for us.
So if you're looking for the fairy tale and the stupid prince on his dumb white horse, move along. You've got a hold of the wrong book. This is not your story, this is not your life, and this is not your opportunity to dip your frightened little toe into the dark pool of water and "try new things" and then pull it out and decide... #NotForMe.
When you go in with us you go all in. So make a decision before you turn this page.
Because I'm making one promise with this book.
Just one.
We are The Dirty Ones and this is our truth.
Q & A Review by Liezel & Angie
Out of all the JA Huss books you’ve read so far, how does this book compare?
Liezel: I didn’t think it was possible since all her books have been great but her writing to me just keep getting better and better.
Angie: This book is one of my top faves by her so far. I didn’t think anything could top 321 but The Dirty Ones did. Color me impressed.
What was it so great about it?
Liezel: A lot! The best thing about it was the intrigue, the mystery, how from the very first chapter the characters drew me in and held my attention until the very end.
Angie: I loved it all. I think the suspense that led up to that explosive ending was best. There’s not many suspense books I can’t figure out and this one left me stumped. I was really waiting for Jordan to come into this book. I really thought it was one of his games.
As you know, there are a lot of characters involved in this story, did the dynamics work for you?
Liezel: One of my pet peeves in books is when there are too many characters involved but with how JA Huss wrote the story I had no issues with it at all.
I loved how each of the characters in their own way complimented the others, how they became a part of a team, after all that they went through – they were willing to work together to figure out solution to such a complicated situation no matter what the consequences were.
Angie: I think if there were any less characters then the book would’ve fell flat. Not saying that in a bad way. This book needed all these characters to make the story great. The good balanced the evil. It made you become invested in multiple characters instead of just one or two.
Was there anything that you disliked about the story?
Liezel: Can I just say that I HATED that it ended? Of all her standalones, I wish this was the one that was made into the series. I’d even be okay with prequels or “the lost years”. This just shows how obsessed I’ve become with these characters. It’s been days since I’ve finished the story and I am still left contemplating the “what-if’s”.
Angie: I agree with Liezel. I need more of this book. I felt a loss at the end and I hope J.A. Huss surprises us with a novella.
Would you recommend reading The Dirty Ones? Why?
Liezel: Absolutely! I loved everything about it. Pick it and prepared to be amazed!
Angie: A thousand times yes!! If you want a book that’s hot, sexy, suspenseful and all the characters are well rounded then The Dirty Ones is the book for you.
