Liezel’s Thoughts:
I love me a good royal romance and I thought The Swedish Prince was a great one. It kind of reminded me of the movie “Going To America”, combined with another hit “Maid In Manhattan”. While there were a similarities, The Swedish Prince stood out because of its emphasis on family.
The heroine -Maggie McPherson was living a pretty carefree life as a college student across the country when her life is literally turned upside down after a fatal incident. From then on, we witness her sacrifice and hardship as she does her best to raise her siblings. At first, I didn’t think Maggie would have anything in common with the Crown Prince of Sweden – Viktor but I loved how Karina Halle proved me wrong.
Viktor’s life wasn’t exactly a cakewalk even if he was a prince. He needed someone to stabilize him and Maggie was the perfect fit. I appreciated how she was so much more mature for her age. She had this admirable integrity and always, always, always knew where her loyalties lie. I loved her character. There was a lot of going back and forth between the two which for me was a bit exhausting but I liked how it all worked out in the end.
Stephanie Wyles did a great narration. I thought she reflected Maggie’s personality perfectly. Her voice was everything I imagined Maggie to be. Jeremy York did a satisfactory job as well. I am definitely crossing my fingers that I get to hear his sexy voice again in the next Crown Prince Novel.
