I’m sitting here dumbfounded by what I just read. It’s beautiful, raw and so beautiful that it hurts to love it as much as I do.
Zera is a Heartless. A tool in a game against humans and witches. No matter how hard she tries to get her heart back, Nightsinger won’t relent until one day she makes her an offer she can’t refuse.
I absolutely LOVED Zera! I love strong female leads and she certainly didn’t disappoint me. She may think she’s incapable of human emotions but her actions and words showed her that you don’t need a heart to love.
She thought her task was simple but when she meets Lucien she realized it might not be so simple at all. Lucien comes off as arrogant, cocky, bored but he’s anything but. He had to deal with a loss that one should never go through and he made his heart turn to steel. Well at least that’s what he wants others to think.
I didn’t realize it wasn’t a stand-alone but quickly figured out the further I read that it had a cliff. Man that ending?!?! I’m left Heartless. Bleeding tears of pain for thinking I’ll have to wait a year before the next book. Misery loves company though and I’ll happily welcome her to wait with me.
