Liezel’s Thoughts:
There is a reason why the In Death Series is up to #45 – because there is never a dull moment! It never fails, every single time I open any one of these books I get completely lost in her world. What is interesting about Brotherhood is how close it is to Eve’s heart.
If you’ve followed the series closely, you know that Dennis Mira has a special place in Eve’s life. Eve has never really had a father figure and it is as if Dennis Mira inherited that very role in her life. As soon as she is alerted that Dennis is indirectly involved in a murder she doesn’t hesitate to drop everything to help him through it.
From there on out we are pulled into this mind boggling world of depravity. For me, the scenes were so much more graphic compared to the previous books. There were numerous shocking moments that were difficult to stomach but then there are equal amounts of tender moments both between Eve and Mr. Mira and of course between Eve and Roarke to offset the darkness.
It is becoming pretty evident just how much Eve has come a long way since those very first books. Seeing her interact with her entire team proves that. It too was heartwarming witnessing each member continuing to evolve and hone their skills under her direction.
If it’s been awhile since you’ve read this series, I suggest coming out of retirement and read Brotherhood In Death because this has got to be one of the most elaborate in the series. I loved it and hope the next book – Apprentice In Death is just as engaging.
