He taught me to kill. Murder is in my blood now. It runs through my veins and though I hide the monster I see in the mirror with ink, it doesn’t keep him from coming out.
My street name is Mercy, but I never show any. Except for her. I watch Becca, though she doesn’t know. She saved me a long time ago; the day my father killed my mother. Her bravery turned her into a target.
My father holds a grudge and knife with the same proficiency, and Becca is the focus of his hatred. And I’m the only monster who can save her.
Q & A by Angie & Liezel
What did you think of the characters? Becca? Nix?
Angie: I loved Becca. She was fearless, strong, confident, independent. Everything you look for in a female lead. She didn’t annoy me not once and that’s rare. Lol
I loved Nix too. He was a hero hidden behind bones. A broken kid who never had the kind of love he deserved. He was strong yet weak. He was fearless yet had feared. He was someone I loved but thought was ignorant at the same time.
I have to add that I absolutely love Animal and I’m so excited he’s getting his own book!! I can’t wait to read more about him. I think there’s more to him and T than what we know. 😉
Liezel: Both of the main characters certainly made their mark. I couldn’t forget these two even if I tried. I loved Becca’s spirit. She never was afraid to express her opinion which in this case was a good thing since it saved Nix’s life.
Nix was an enigma. You wanted to abhor him for the countless, mercilessness crimes that he committed but when you think about it… every single one of these affected the greater good. For me, he was an epitome of an anti-hero.
What is your favorite quote and why?
Angie: To me, this quote sums up everything Nix feels for Becca. I fell more in love with him then. To be told these words by a beautiful, tattooed man would be a dream come true.
“The moon is your crown. You’re my skeleton princess.” “You’re so sweet to me.” I was glowing because of his words. “You are my heart, and this is the first time I’ve ever thought it was worthy of a beat.”
Liezel: The quote Angie picked says it all. Another that stood out for me was…
“…I’d rather die in your arms right now than live without you for a hundred years…”
It proved that their love for one another was infinite. That no matter what came their way they could handle it as long as they were together.
Would you date a guy covered in tattoos?
Angie: Yes I would. I love tattoos. I think they’re hot and on the right man, it makes you want to lick them head to toe. Even if it was someone covered like Nix I would in a heartbeat. You never know what’s underneath all that ink.
Liezel: Honestly, I would be hesitant interacting with this person but in the end, I think the curiosity would get the best of me and I would want to know exactly what influenced them to get such tattoos in the first place. Would I date them? The tattoos wouldn’t stop me. Like any other guy, if there was something there then yes, definitely.
Would you recommend this book?
Angie: A million times yes!!! Mercy will be the first book I gift my friends and my sister when it’s available. I loved this book so much. The intricate details that were put into this book were insane plus you never can go wrong with a Debra Anastasia book.
Liezel: Absolutely, Mercy had the perfect balance between romance and suspense. There were moments of darkness but everyone of those moments were beautifully brought into the light. I thought all of the characters were magnificent and can not wait to read more about them.
