I can’t tell you enough how deep I’ve fallen in love with Audrey Carlan’s characters. Even more so in this first installment in the Lotus House Series. Once you meet Genevieve Harper I guarantee you will agree with me that she is a character that would be difficult to top because this woman is incredible.
Genevieve becomes the sole provider to her two younger siblings after losing her parents in a fatal accident. She selflessly puts her life on hold, takes on two jobs to support their little family. Despite her selfless sacrifices, they are still barely getting by. If anyone earned a break, she did. She deserved her chance at love and happiness.
Just from their very first encounter Baseball player Trent Fox knew that Genevieve was something special. He made his intent known early on but what he didn’t expect was that she would affect him differently than all the woman he’s come across during his entire career.
What was fantastic about this story was witnessing how Trent went above and beyond in making this remarkable woman feel special. I loved that he didn’t just stop at her happiness rather he was committed to her siblings’ well-being too. Trent’s parent’s involvement… was my absolute favorite aspect of the relationship.
I couldn’t ask for a better pairing in these two. They had completely different upbringings but still, they fit perfectly. I thought their chemistry and the passion was terrific. In every sense, they complimented each other.
I enjoyed every aspect of this book. The narration done by Holly Chandler and Jacob Morgan was great and I wouldn’t mind listening to them again in the future. I would definitely recommend Resisting Roots for those looking for an uplifting, heartwarming and beautiful love story.
