Ysabelle

They say in order to find yourself you have to go home, but what if home is what you’re escaping from. I went to Miami to discover myself; never in my wildest dreams, did I think home would become a three-letter word.
VIP.
I was the dream.
I was the illusion.
I was the fantasy.
Until him…
Everything went to hell in hand basket the moment we laid eyes on each other.
I wanted him.
He wanted me.

Sebastian

I have always been a man who made decisions based on other people’s feelings, wants, and desires.
I was selfless.
I never wanted to hurt anyone.
Especially her.
The moment I met her… I wanted her.
I loved her.
For the woman she was.
For the woman she wanted to be.
But most of all…
For the woman she was, when she was with me.

This isn’t a love story, but a story about love.

Liezel’s Thoughts:

VIP is about a young woman named Ysabelle who has  had one of the most nightmarish upbringings EVER. At the first opportunity, she escapes the one person that was supposed to protect her and ends up in Miami. With the help of a random stranger, she builds a life of comfort but feels like there is something that’s missing. This, however, changes when she first encounters Madam.

At first, it was difficult to decipher the extent of Madam’s interest in Ysabelle. I think that this was one of the major draws for me – the complexity of the main character relationships. The way Madam took Ysabelle under her wing had me questioning her motives repeatedly and this is the very reason why I can’t wait to get to the next book!

Then, of course, there was the intricate relationship that Ysabelle had with Sebastian. I know that their affair was WRONG on so many levels but the way M. Robinson played it out had me questioning…”how something so perfectly right can be that wrong?” I felt so torn about these two. I wanted to hate them both for the things that they’ve done but at the same time, I was rooting for them too. I definitely loved how the author was able to convince me that these two belonged together.

I rarely read romances that involve cheating. It just was never my thing. But after reading  VIP, it had me contemplating that maybe I do need to read this troupe more often. I realized that when written well that this feeling of uncertainty that I normally have is completely unnecessary. Thank you M. Robinson for delivering such a remarkable story!

The Verdict:

rating-4
