Have you ever been so angry that hitting things felt good? Or so numb that you actually felt high? The past few years have been like that for me. Traveling between fury and indifference with no stops in between.

Some people hate me for it, while others are scared of me. But none of them can hurt me, because I don't care about anything or anyone.

Except Tatum.

I love her so much that I hate her. We used to be friends, but I found out that I couldn't trust her or anyone else.

So I hurt her. I pushed her away.

But I still need her. The sight of her centers me, and I can pool all of my anger into her. Engaging her, challenging her, bullying her...they are my food, my air, and the last part of me that feels anything human.

But she left. She went to France for a year, and came back a different girl.

Now, when I push, she pushes back.

Liezel’s Thoughts:

I would not recommend reading/listening to Until You unless you’ve read Bully since Until You is somewhat of a retell of the previous book but told in Jared’s point of view.  I say somewhat because it is so much more than your typical retell…It’s book one on steroids!

I always thought that Bully was great and never thought that Tate and Jared’s story could get any better BUT after listening to the second book over the weekend I was proved 100% wrong because Until You is sensational!

It wasn’t just the additional content  that made the story worthwhile rather it was being able to explore Jared’s thoughts and emotions especially during those pivotal moments of this complicated relationship. There were so many more sides to Jared and I loved being to delve further into this remarkable character.

I too couldn’t ask for a better narrator than Nelson Hobbs. The way he modulated was perfection. It was to the point where I felt like I was in Jared shoes – experiencing in his longing,  his frustration and anger and eventually his love and contentment.

I am not one of those readers that typically appreciate stories involving bullying but these books are definitely an exception to the rule. Penelope Douglas’ writing, paired with Nelson Hobbs’ delivery… in both books have so far has been phenomenal.

I loved everything about the first two books in the Fall Away Series and am looking forward to moving on to listening to both Jared and Tate’s POV’s in Aflame next.

The Verdict:

rating-5
