What do you enjoy most about Sawyer Bennett’s writing?
Liezel: I love her characters! Somehow, someway her characters are relatable therefore I feel like I am able to connect with them instantaneously.
Angie: I agree with Liezel but I also love how easy you can escape into the world she creates.
Do you think matchmaking works?
Liezel: It rarely works in my opinion and that is one of the reasons why I appreciated this book. I’ve decided that the only way for this to work is if the ones doing the matchmaking know and trust completely.
Angie: This is a hard question. I’ve been on dating sites where they match you to a “perfect” partner and that has never worked. I’ve had close family members set me up with guys and those didn’t work. I think for some it might, though.
What did you think about Evan’s character? What about Emma?
Liezel: I thought Evan was great. Despite all the popularity, he remained down to earth. He had a strong head on his shoulders, not one of those who could be easily swayed by money and power. He always knew where his priorities were.
Emma was a bit confusing – She was so Naive. There were times where I wondered how she managed to get through college being that sheltered. She sure did need someone to open doors for her and Evan was the perfect one to do this for her.
Angie: I love Evan! He was my favorite character other than Red in the book. He was so genuine. He was loyal to a fault and gave his heart 100% when he knew what he wanted. He wasn’t greedy. He loved his job and his fans and he didn’t let anyone influence him.
Emma was a different story. I liked her but wasn’t in love with her. She was easily intimidated by everyone around her that I wondered why she wanted to be a lawyer. But regardless of that Evan was the best thing that happened to her. He made her uptight self-loosen up.
Did they make a good couple?
Liezel: I loved them as a couple. I loved how Evan brought out the worst and the best out of Emma and how he was able to break through her shell, providing her opportunities that she wouldn’t have otherwise had.
In retrospect, I loved how Emma challenged Evan. How she managed to guide him along without forcing the issue. She balanced him out and will undoubtedly keep him grounded in the successful years to come.
Angie: I loved them together. Like Liezel said above they balanced each other out. They’re perfect for each other.
Would you recommend this book?
Liezel: I could be mistaken but I read somewhere that this was a RomCom. If that is what you been expecting this isn’t quite the book for you. What it is, however, is a fantastic contemporary romance between an unlikely couple.
Either way, I enjoyed this story just as I’ve enjoyed Sawyer Bennett’s others and I can’t wait what her creative mind comes up with next.
Angie: I would recommend this book but like Liezel said not as a RomCom unless I lost all sense of humor. It is a really good contemporary romance and if you are a fan of that genre and Sawyer’s then you definitely need to read Sexy Lies and Rock & Roll.
