I have loved my best friend for eleven years.
Eleven years of celebrations.
Eleven years of victories and losses.
Eleven years of inside jokes and shared smiles.
Eleven years of helping him raise his daughter as a single father. He smiles at me and my world brightens.
He ignores me and I forget how to function.
He holds my hand and takes more of my heart.
He leaves and time stops. We have both lost too much, but am I willing to risk the effects of falling again?
Angie’s Thoughts:
The Effects of Falling is the story of Summer and Kash. It’s the second book in the Weight of Rain duet. While you do not need to read Weight of Rain I would highly recommend it. Saying that The Effects of Falling is a complete standalone but you do meet Lo and Kane who are the main characters from book 1.
I was so excited when I saw there was a book about Summer and Kash coming out. Summer has been pining for my boy for 11 years. Yes, 11 years! Kash lost the love of his life tragically and was left to raise his daughter, Mercedes on his own but not without his village.
This book is Summer’s story. I love that. I love reading more about her. Connecting with her more. I also love how deep of a friendship she has with Lo and how they are together. I laughed so much with them.
I also love Kash. I mean who doesn’t? At times though I wanted to smack him and tell him to get his head out of his ass. That’s a man for ya, though. Lol
The Effects of Falling is a beautiful love story about second chances, best friends and a love like no other. Mariah Dietz can masterfully web together the most beautiful love stories I’ve ever read.

The Weight of Rain (#1) – Released Oct 27, 2015
One night changed my life-one that I barely remember.
When I close my eyes, my mind paints a picture of his smile and shades the contours of his hands, the deep scar around his bicep.
I’m an artist, yet my hands are unsteady. With his presence, he has unknowingly broken that something inside of me that makes me who I am.
Being around him is like standing in a rainstorm. First the drops tickle my skin, and then they coat me, refusing to be ignored. Finally, they soak into me, reaching parts of me I don’t think anyone has ever touched.
When dreams turn into reality, will the picture in my mind transfer to paper?
