Q and A Review by Micah and Angie
What was your favorite quote in Je Suis A Toi?
Micah: I actually have a few highlighted that I feel really stood out, character-wise, for both of them. However, my favorite was:
“Ruthless but loving.
Rough but fair.
My wife.
My equal.”
I really feel like that sums up the entire series as a whole, for both Q and Tess.
Angie: I highlighted a lot too. My favorite is the one Micah said but also this:
“I loved her. I adored her.
I didn’t want to hurt her.
Lies
I did want to hurt her.
And she wanted me to.
That was ultimate freedom.
What did you think of the story of Je Suis A Toi?
Micah: Although I was really annoyed with Q the majority of the story, like Tess, I did like the story. It was nice stepping back into the lives of these characters and getting a glimpse into their marital lives 3 years in. They’re having some struggles that probably only Q and Tess would have and they try to solve them in only the ways that Q and Tess WOULD solve them. Well, maybe some others but certainly not in the ways my husband and I would haha. So I did really enjoy the story. I felt like I figured out what Q’s issue was fairly early, but that didn’t stop me from enjoying the ride they went on.
And the story? Hot damn, Pepper Winters never ceases to keep things hot. Steamy sex scenes are heavy in this short novella. And I LOVED that.
Angie: I was aggravated with Q too a lot throughout the book. I just felt like if he would just speak aloud what was troubling him then everything would be fine. Tess is a champ and no matter what’s going through that thick skull of his she can handle anything. I loved revisiting the banter between those two and the panty dropping sex scenes that Pepper is known for! I love Tess and Q! Although like Micah I figured out early on what was going on through that beautiful head of Q’s, I still thoroughly enjoyed it!
How was it diving back into the minds of Q and Tess?
Micah: I LOVED that. I thought that I would have a problem going back into their world as it has been so long since I read the Monsters in the Dark trilogy. However, I had no problem picking this up, even though it has been about 2 years since I finished the last book. This series is one of my all time favorite. Pepper catches us up flawlessly and allows us to seamlessly fall back into their lives. I loved the dual points of view.
Angie: I also loved it! It showed us a different perspective of Q that we haven’t seen in any of the other Monster in the Dark books! Tess really showed too! She’s such a badass character in every way and I admire her as much as I did from the very first time I read Tears of Tess almost 3 years ago! If anything I fell more in love with her and more in love with a side of Q I’ve never seen before.
Do you think it stayed true to the Monsters in the Dark trilogy?
Micah: I think it was a nice addition to the trilogy. It was nice to return to beloved characters that I haven’t visited for years and remember why I love them so much. The characters of Q and Tess were pretty much the same. Although I felt a little disconnected to Q because I was so angry at him, I still felt like the was acting true to his character. I loved peeking in on the other side characters in the story as well.
Angie: I do think it stayed true. I loved revisiting Q, Tess, Suzette, Franco and Franklin. It’s a great addition to the Monster in the Dark trilogies!
Would you recommend this book?
Micah: I would recommend this book for those that have read and loved the Monsters in the Dark trilogy. You have to have read those 3 to understand and appreciate this book.
Angie: This is a must read for any fan of Monsters in the Dark trilogies!

“Don’t struggle. You know I’ll keep you safe.” Q’s murmur danced down my back.
My panic receded as trust billowed fast and true.
Q was born into darkness, but he’d never baptized me in his blackest desires. And because of that, I could implicitly say he spoke the truth. No matter what he did to me, he would never truly harm me.
Q paused, his tattooed chest soaking. His feathered sparrows fluffing off droplets almost alive on his skin. “I told you once never to fall for me. That I didn’t want the curse of breaking your heart while I broke so many other pieces of you.” His hands landed on my breasts, cupping them reverently. “Yet you fought me, just like you said you would. You fell for me, just like you promised me you would. And now, you’re willing to give me what I need even after I tricked you and lied.”

“I’m so glad you ignored me, esclave.” His fingertips branded my nipples with pain. “So fucking happy you married me.” Pushing me backward, he smiled harshly as my spine met the pool wall. His chest strained as he sucked in a heavy breath. “You’re so fucking beautiful.”
My heart hammered in my ears as he kissed me.
His tongue laced with mine, and I sank into the sweet embrace, knowing it would be the last I received tonight. The air crackled with an impending storm. Q’s control frayed every second, his eyes drenching in determination and the salacious need to hurt.
Breaking the kiss, he opened his hand, revealing the other item he’d retrieved.
A tiny pair of silver scissors.
