What exactly is Apollycon?

If you haven’t figured it out yet (by the banner above)….. Apollycon is Jennifer L. Armentrout’s “The Power” (Book 2 in her TITAN Series) release party.

What is amazing about the event is not only does JLA bring her models (Pepe Toth and Drew Leighty) to this event but she brings her friends too! These friends are other well-known authors in both the Fantasy and Contemporary Genres.

Think about it…..One minute, I can be in line chatting it up with Rachel Vincent while getting my Shifter’s Series signed and the next I could be in Rebecca Donovan’s line getting my Breathing Series signed. For this very reason, I would have to say that this was one of my favorite events ever and I have been to quite a few.

What did I think about the event?

Let me start off with the…

Negatives:

Event starting an hour later than scheduled.

Organizers stating  that it was a ticketed event when it wasn’t.

The onsite bookstore’s strict “NO BOOK” rule.

Positives:

I LOVED the variety of authors from both Urban Fantasy and Contemporary Romance that attended.

I adored staring and eventually meeting JLA’s models – Pepe and Drew

The venue’s set-up and location.

The VIR bags – free books? YES please!

Who I loved seeing  at the event?

Pepe, Rachel Vincent and Jeaniene Frost

Would I recommend attending this event?

If the event isn’t somewhere ridiculous like say Japan …then Hell Yes!

I personally see myself attending every single JLA Release Events in the future.

Recommendations for you guys going to upcoming events:

  • Don’t bring more books than you can handle even if you have someone who agreed to assist you. There’s a likelihood that they are an a$$ (like my helper) or they just outright cancel, then what would  you do? This happened to me and even if my friends are understanding, I still feel like  crap for missing those 8 books.
  • Use a sturdy cart and abide by the weight limit set by the manufacturer. This thing appeared to be roomy but as soon as I set it down, the handle cracked. Thank goodness I  had this in my car as a backup and as obnoxious as it  was – it did the trick.
  • Bring snacks. Just cause the timing is never perfect.
  • Don’t bring too many anthologies. They’re great to have but stacking and sorting them repeatedly was extremely time-consuming for me.
  • Always, always pre-label your books. It saves so much time and energy for you and the author.

Here’s a pic of what I brought home. And NO, these aren’t all mine. Although, I wish they were.

Count? 192! This is my record and most likely won’t happen ever again.
