Liezel’s Thoughts:
The Thoughtless Series has been one of my all time favorite contemporary romances to date. This in particular was the reason why I didn’t hesitate to read “Untamed” as soon as it became accessible. I imagined that I would love it just as much as the previous books but I’m sorry to say that isn’t so. “Untamed” was extremely difficult to get into, to say the least.
“Untamed” features D-Bags’ bassist Griffin Hancock. If you remember from the previous books, Griffin has always been the most out-spoken and overzealous member of the band. And while having Anna as a permanent fixture in his life curbed most of his wilder urges (sexcapades), it was his ego that was the current issue.
What was unbearable about the story was the fact that more than half of the book consists of Griffin continuously whining. It felt like it was never-ending. He accused his closest friends that they were doing him wrong. He complains that he isn’t ever taken seriously, isn’t given equal opportunities, and says that he is constantly being held back by the others.
Having Griffin narrate his feeling was great in the beginning but when he went on and on it felt too long and drawn out. It was blah enough that I was tempted numerous times to just shelve it. Obviously I continued on and eventually understood that the author did this to further highlight his comeback but for me it was too excessive.
The one thing that I did enjoy about “Untamed” was being able to revisit the characters of the original story but even that plus the attempt to redeem Griffin character, I felt it still wasn’t quite enough to sway my overall opinion. This is why I regretfully rate “Untamed”….

Her first attempt at a full-length novel was Thoughtless. She wrote the angst-filled love triangle in early 2009 and published it that summer on FictionPress. Amazed and surprised by the response, more stories were quick to follow.
Conversion, the first novel in a three story vampire series, was released in the fall. Collision Course, a tragic, yet hopeful tale of love and loss was released in early 2010. The second Conversion novel came out next, along with It’s All Relative, a different take on a one night stand story.
In addition to writing, Stephens enjoys reading other people’s fabulous novels, loading up her iPod with writer’s block reducing music, heading out to the movie theaters, and spending quality time with her children.
