Quinn has spent her whole life working in her dad's garage, leaving her more comfortable with a carburetor than a curling iron. Her world is turned upside down when her beloved garage is bought by none other than world famous, sexy as sin, custom car builder, Tazen Watts. He's the one man she can't stand...even though he makes her hotter than a high performance engine in top gear.
Tazen has no use for Quinn, at least not professionally, and he's making sure she knows it. But there's a spark between them that she's finding hard to ignore. She's determined to prove her talent is as impressive as her sassy mouth. When she finds out Tazen is hiding a secret that could bring down his career and everyone involved in it, she wonders: is falling for him is going to be work the risk?
Liezel’s Thoughts:
Quinn’s entire life revolved around the garage that her family built but because of poor decisions that her very own father made she stands to lose everything. Tazen Watts, who is well-known custom car builder has his eyes set on obtaining her garage. He will not stop until he has what is rightfully hers.
Unfortunately keeping it is out of Quinn’s hands. When the garage slips through her fingers she can’t seem to let it go. Even if the garage isn’t hers anymore she becomes determined to stay in it no matter what. Day in and day out we find her forcing herself into Tazen’s life and as the days pass their love-hate relationship evolves into something more.
I would have to say that this was what I enjoyed about this book – the couple’s chemistry. I loved the angst! They fought ridiculously against their feeling and when they finally gave in, it was “let- me-fan-myself” fantastic!
I adored Quinn’s character. I admired her determination, her drive and most especially her sass. I love that she fought for what she cared about no matter what the consequences were. Her pairing with Tazen was outstanding. Even if he was out of her league that didn’t matter since they understood each other completely. After all, that she had been through she deserved happiness and Tazen definitely gave that to her.
That relationship aspect of the story was great. What I had issues with however was the story flow, hence my rating. It seemed that after the couple took the plunge that the story fell flat from there on out. Yes, there were a few elements added in to keep things interesting but it felt downplayed which was disappointing since the story had so much more potential.
The question is… would I recommend this book? If you love an angsty romance involving a kick-ass, defiant heroine with a perfect alpha counterpart then yes I would definitely recommend “Hard To Break”.
