With a potential stalker on the loose, Kingsley hires Lance as Nora's bodyguard, but stipulates no sex while he's on duty. Frustrated by the ex-SEAL's noble chivalry, Nora is driven to seek release with the one man she's trying to forget….
Liezel’s Thoughts:
This book has been in my queue for months and since The Virgin is scheduled to be released in a couple of days I thought it was about time to catch up on this series.
“Sore Spots” picks up immediately after “Stars and Stripes” leaves off where we find the Underground in upheaval. Lead by Kingsley, they attempt to make sense of what happened to one of their very own and while catching the culprit is important, keeping the women (especially Nora) safe is top priority. This is how Lance becomes Nora’s personal bodyguard.
If you think about it this would have been a great opportunity for them but instead the situation becomes a predicament since Kingsley iterated that they were never to have any kind of physical relations. Kingsley’s warning normally wouldn’t have wavered Nora. If anything she would have been taken this up as a challenge but as she gets to spend time getting to know Lance in a deeper level she discovers just how honorable this man truly is.
“I can’t remember the last time I wanted someone as much as I want you. We both might forget to behave ourselves.”
She becomes even so enamored with this man. For once we witness Nora averting this immense lust that she possesses and is able to step back and look at the bigger picture. This is where we are actually reminded of Nora’s sensitive side.
What I loved about this novella was not only do we discover how Lance is designated as the “Good Knight” but we also witness a change in Nora as well. What I found most intriguing however was for once Soren isn’t the the primary target of Nora’s affections rather this time he plays (in a sense) the rebound guy. Impossible right?
I enjoyed this novella and I am sure that fans of the series will as well. The only thing about it is it is VERY short. Good thing we don’t have to wait forever for the next part in the series!
