Trace Kogan will go to any length to protect those who need protecting. That is the business he is in; the business his father, Casper Kogan, started with Bryce Trexler more than thirty-five years ago. Trace spends day and night eliminating threats to clients, so when the danger hits too close to home, he won’t let anything come between him and the woman who desperately needs his help.
His fear… the physical reaction he has to Marissa may pose a bigger danger than the ghost that they find themselves up against.
Marissa Trexler has spent the last twelve months of her life in hiding, tucked away in one safe house after another for her own protection. The threat to her is real even if the reason is still unknown. Strangely, whoever is after her seems to find her no matter where she goes, leading her family to believe it’s an inside job.
So when the decision is made that Trace will provide personal protection, she can’t say no, even if being close to him adds another level of danger… and this one is to her heart.
Liezel’s Thoughts:
I was thrilled when I heard that Nicole Edwards was coming out with a brand new series. Knowing that she could write some of the most amazingly passionate and smoldering romance ever written, I was eager to see how I would react to her adding a suspenseful twist to her stories. Finishing “Wait For Morning” last night I would have to say that this book was an overall good introduction to the series.
I thought the beginning chapters were suspenseful and attention grabbing but as the story moved along I felt the total opposite. I felt very much overwhelmed. There were too many characters introduced into the story thus making it difficult for me to keep up. At that point I should have been focusing on the storyline itself but instead I was trying to keep all the players organized in my head because I knew that they would be monumental characters in future books. I truly needed that outline provided to keep everyone straight. That being said, the first 50% of the book was too long and drawn out for me.
The other half of the book however was great. It was then that I appreciated how involved both families were. I loved how they came together and decided that the chaos going on in Marissa’s life had been going on long enough and needed to end. The dedication to protect each member of their close-knit group was remarkable.
At first I didn’t understand the reason why Trace was holding back from Marissa. His hesitation was aggravating but when he finally surrendered …OMG! The wait was well worth it! Like I said upfront, this author can write some fantastic love scenes and that is proven yet again in this story. I loved that what the couple had wasn’t just a physical attraction either. When they gave in to their emotions they both were committed to the very end.
What I appreciated most about the book besides the romance, suspense and the twists and turns that kept me on my toes was how the author sets up the future couples in the series. The little details she mentioned towards the end of the book about the certain couples such as Max and Courtney and especially Ryan and Z have me all kinds of excited.
