Is it possible to expose Chicago’s hottest player—without getting played?
This is the story I've been waiting for all my life, and its name is Malcolm Kyle Preston Logan Saint. Don’t be fooled by that last name though. There’s nothing holy about the man except the hell his parties raise. The hottest entrepreneur Chicago has ever known, he’s a man’s man with too much money to spend and too many women vying for his attention.
Mysterious. Privileged. Legendary. His entire life he’s been surrounded by the press as they dig for tidbits to see if his fairytale life is for real or all mirrors and social media lies. Since he hit the scene, his secrets have been his and his alone to keep. And that’s where I come in.
Assigned to investigate Saint and reveal his elusive personality, I’m determined to make him the story that will change my career.
But I never imagined he would change my life. Bit by bit, I start to wonder if I'm the one discovering him...or if he's uncovering me.
What happens when the man they call Saint, makes you want to sin?
Liezel’s Thoughts:
Even since I read Katy Evans’ debut book “Real” I have become a hardcore fan. It was her character Remington Tate that first caught my attention and the major reason why that book landed on my favorites list in 2013. Back then, I deemed Remy as one of the greatest book boyfriends in my reading history and thought that there was no possible way that Katy Evans could ever create another that could even come close to him but OMG how wrong was I …. because Malcolm Kyle Preston Logan Saint is just as amazing as Riptide.
Saint had the reputation of being the ultimate bachelor. He was rich and successful, influential, charismatic and on top of all that – very attractive. Everyone either wanted to be him, sleep with him or at the very least be around him. He was all around intriguing and considered a career changer especially by the magazine, Edge. His story could certainly make or break them and this is why they needed an inside scoop.
They end up sending in the all too innocent reporter Rachel Livingston. She was way out of his league and at first I thought Saint would eat Rachel alive. Given her dedication she was determined to look past this and try her best to do her job. This is what I loved most about this book! The character building was simply magnificent. Given the position that Rachel was put in she could have easily taken advantage of the entire situation. She could have manipulated a sensational story that could have boosted her career but that was something she never considered. Even when she was encouraged she wasn’t willing to sacrifice others for herself. The girl was totally selfless not only when it came to her career but in her personal life as well. I couldn’t help but fall in love with her character.
Saint on the other hand was a hard nut to crack. He was a supposed “MANWHORE” but I never saw evidence of his whoring ways in the story. If anything, the guy was misrepresented and misunderstood. He did have multiple layers, layers that he wasn’t willing to shed to just anyone. Rachel was able to uncover some of these and what we discover so far is a man who was quite remarkable.
“I don’t know what to think or say or do. It feels like a dream, or a nightmare. Powerful…his pull to me is undeniable. I’m scared out of my mind and at the same time I’m helpless to resist. I want more….”
Beyond the physical attraction, I thought these two would never fit. They were then all too different but as the story progressed they were so much more alike than one would think. I thought that it was quite impressive how the author was able to change my mind on this. What was terrific about them was as they got to know each other better they both were changing…changing for the better and I can not begin to tell you how much I loved how Rachel was able to influence Malcolm in the endeavors that she was passionate about.
Now let’s talk about a different kind of passion – this all-consuming one that both Malcolm and Rachel possess. From the very beginning their chemistry was magnificent. It was their individual hesitancy however that made their fervor all the more intense. It took awhile for it to happen and the wait was agonizing but when they finally came together that wait was well damn worth it. Prepare yourself ladies because these scenes are scorching!
I immensely enjoyed this story and would definitely recommend it. The only thing about it however is that it ends in one disappointing cliffhanger. How am I supposed to wait that long? Hrmph. I’ve personally become so attached to the characters (most especially Rachel) that I can’t help but feel a bit anxious about the overall outcome. I need the second installment NOW!
