For years now, resident surgeon Erin Slater has been focused on her career. Sexual frustration has her on edge, and it seems like a wet dream come true when her best friend Jack and his roommate Simon offer to help her scratch that itch. Their afternoon of debauchery leaves her yearning for more, particularly to explore her submissive side – a craving that Simon, an experienced Dom himself, is only too happy to satisfy. But there’s also Jack, who she’s closer to than anyone else in the world. When emotions factor into the equation, things get complicated, forcing Erin to make a decision which man she will choose – but why can’t she have both?
Dive into this vivid tale of friendship, lust, love, bondage, dominance, and submission. Intended for mature audiences.
Liezel’s Thoughts:
Just reading Caught In The Middle‘s synopsis alone immediately grabbed my attention. I knew right there and then that I needed to read this book. I mean, come on… who could resist the drama that could potentially happen between three long time friends who decides to risk an impeccable friendship for a quick roll in the hay? Not me!
What captivated me even from the very beginning was the dynamics between Erin, Jack, and Simon together and eventually as paired off couples. Oh yeah! There wasn’t a single moment where I didn’t feel somewhat anxious throughout the story.
“…looking into his eyes, seeing unspoken emotions roiling in them, I saw that I wasn’t the only one acutely aware of how things were shifting between us…”
As expected, the sexy scenes were all around fascinating but what made this one even that more compelling was when emotions started becoming part of the equation. The instant that these feelings were finally disclosed was when the tension became quite overwhelming. That is – overwhelming in a good way! Let me tell you, there was a never single boring moment in this book.
I found it also interesting how a friendship between three people transitioned from something platonic to something (very) sexual and eventually into something romantic. All of that sounds complicated, right? Yet Kira Barker did a fascinating job chronicling such a transformation.
Caught In The Middle for me was a fantastic debut. I definitely am looking forward to seeing how this dynamic threesome’s relationship further develop in the upcoming books.
