Rebecca Moore specializes in international negotiations. She flies all over the world for her work and speaks many languages. But regardless of her language skills, she's going to have a hard time communicating with O.E. Orton.

If you’ve read the first book in the series you’ve met our hero – O.E. before. It’s been ages ago that I’ve read Executive Sweet and the only reason why I never forgot him was because of his not-so-modest behavior even way back then. As mentioned in the synopsis, O.E. is this extremely wealthy man. He is also quite attractive to boot. The sad thing about it is he never fails to mention to every person he comes across just how rich and desirable he is.
Egotistical, arrogant and being a braggart is exactly what gets O.E. in trouble. To teach him a lesson, Kay comes up with this elaborate plan that at the time seemed totally brilliant – a win-win situation for everyone involved. She came up with this wager where O.E. had to find a woman who would agree to vacation with him across the coast without mentioning anything about his wealth. Sounds easy enough right? However, what Kay didn’t plan for was one of her dearest friends – Rebecca, getting involved in the scheme of things.
Rebecca I would say was the total package. She is sexy, intelligent and business savvy just like O.E. At first glance he knew she was the woman he wanted. Rebecca was just as attracted to him but as they started spending time together she decided his ego was just too overwhelming and therefore she doesn’t hesitate to “friend zone” him.
Without giving too much away, an incident occurs where O.E. has no choice but to keep his mouth shut and this is where Rebecca begins to see him for who he really is. Behind all the arrogance she discovers that O.E. is a very outgoing, caring and passionate man. Finally realizing this, this is when she begins to enjoy his company more than she thought she ever could.
As their relationship develops O.E. is anxious to see how Rebecca reacts to the mystery behind their relationship. This being Kay’s plan she feels just as torn as O.E. about the entire situation. What originally started out as a bet becomes potentially painful. Question is, will Rebecca will be able to get past all the secrets that these two hold? Read this one to find out.
Being a “Wizard Of Oz” fan from a very young age I simply couldn’t resist reading this one. Personally, I would have never thought that a classic could possibly be used to further enhance an already likable contemporary romance yet in the second installment of the Westerly Series, Sage Ardman does just that!
I thought “Oz” was very well incorporated into the story. To me, it was one of the most important things that brought this couple together. It isn’t everyday that you find a couple who share the same passion for something like the Wizard of Oz. What was surprising for me was how a man like O.E. built a subtle life around it. I also found it enjoyable to see how the characters in both books began to identified with one another and applaud the author in being able to pull that off.
I will honest and say that the story was slightly difficult getting into but as I got to know both O.E. and Rebecca individually and as a couple I began to enjoy it wholeheartedly. I loved Rebecca’s character. She did have some insecurities (who doesn’t) but that didn’t seem to stop her from getting what she wanted. I thought she was very practical. I loved her for her honesty both in her personally life and in her chosen career. Even when heart wanted to rule things she had enough control to step back and think things through-thoroughly.
Originally I thought O.E. was a douche and I thought that my impression would never change but it took one punch to change my outlook. After that entire debacle, I began to enjoy his character too. I can’t even begin to tell you how endearing I thought he was with Rebecca. He was willing to give up just about everything to keep her in his life. I also loved how he stood by her side, defending and protected her when she most needed it.
I thought their passion and chemistry was fantastic. You remember those times (think adolescent years!) where the mere aspect of holding hands was ridiculously arousing? Well if not, this book will definitely give you a recap on how that felt (and that is just a tip of the iceberg). I loved how perfect they fit. Just as Dan and Kay became a power couple in Executive Sweet I could see these two doing just the same or perhaps even more.
I enjoyed this unique story. Besides the fact that I am looking forward to reading how O.E. and Rebecca conquer the world of charity and business together I am also excited to see how Constance gets her HEA in the third installment to the Westerley Series entitled Seductive Synchronicity due to be released later this year.
