In Music of the Heart, an unexpected twist of fate caused Abby Renard to fall into womanizer Jake Slater’s bed. What started out as a small spark between the unlikely pair, grew into a deep and intense love. After a year-long engagement, the two have finally been able to set a wedding date. It’s off to Mexico for a destination ceremony on a private beach. After a heated week long honeymoon in a tropical paradise, the two return to the real world of touring and making music together.
As the newlyweds settle into married life, another twist of fate challenges their love. For once, Abby isn’t able to be the rock of strength that Jake needs. Can the two of them hold on to the strong foundation of love they have built, or will it crumble under the pressure?

Liezel’s Review:
In this book, Abby and Ryan finally tie the knot. I do have to say that Ryan sure did go the extra mile and gave his Angel the wedding celebration that every woman deserves. From the reception to the ceremony itself and another reception he went above and beyond expectations. Their honeymoon was just as perfect except for this one intense argument that eventually leads up to one fantastic make-up.
A year passes by and our couple remain very much in love. They have this ideal relationship that anyone would envy up until Abby lands in the hospital. Again, that same argument they had during their honeymoon comes up. Back then it was an intense discussion but now it becomes even more painful and heartbreaking.
What makes it even worst is that because of all his anger, Ryan takes some of his frustrations out on his band mates and their significant others . What is remarkable though is that his band is possibly closer than family and no matter what was said and done, they forgive and forget and continue to offer comfort and support through that difficult times.
Every single one of the guys were always at their side but it was AJ and Mia that seemed to rise above the rest. AJ! Good grief, I love that man. He was the perfect bestie in every way. He always managed to put things in a better perspective for Ryan. Mia too was teriffic. She was always comforting and understanding with all that Ryan was going through. If I haven’t said this yet… I need to say that Mia and AJ make such an amazing pair.
“…You’re the light that fills my soul in the darkest, bleakest night. You’re the balm that cures the wound; the lifeline in the storm. You are the song of my heart, the music of my soul.”
After Ryan finally manned the f’ up, made that much needed call and got over his self doubt he ends up doing the sweetest thing. He gives his wife one heartfelt apology and they finally come to an agreement. Ryan struggled with this decision for years but when they get to that point his anxiety and insecurities immediately disappear and he takes on his new role flawlessly.
I can’t tell you enough how much I enjoyed Music Of The Soul. I appreciated the fact that it approached these life changing decisions with so much realism and brought up issues and difficulties that any newlywed could possibly go through. It certainly was a great representation of forgiveness, acceptance and love not only between Ryan and Abby but also among family and closes of friends.
I thought Music Of The Soul was a fantastic ending to Abby and Ryan’s love story. Their relationship did have rough moments but because of their endless love they were able to overcome all the obstacles to get to that very much needed happily ever after.
