Good Girl. Notorious Bad-Boy. One Phenomenal Love.

From the mean streets of Detroit rises the newest superstar of professional wrestling, Xavier Cold, better known as Phenomenal X. His muscular physique makes men cower before him and women lose their minds with desire.

Anna Cortez is fresh out of college and naive to the harsh realities of the real world. Tired of living under the thumb of her conservative family, she defies them when she accepts a job as the assistant to wrestling’s most notorious bad-boy. Phenomenal X has an animalistic nature that even good girl Anna finds hard to resist.

One night forced to share a bed in a sold-out hotel, lines blur between them and they quickly learn that one lustful night changes everything and neither one of them will ever be the same.

Liezel’s Thoughts:

Who would have thought that tomato juice would have that much effect on a two random strangers? It sure did for Anna and Xavier, also known as Phenomenal X.

As the story goes, Anna escapes her sheltered life in Portland and flies to Detroit to live with her aunt. Phenomenal X is on the same flight she’s on. As soon as X sees Anna, he’s drawn to her. He tries his best to seduce her but despite his charms Anna refuses to give him the time of day which something X is not used to. If anything, he is even more intrigued.

Their brief encounter should have ended there but X just can’t let her go. Out of desperation,  he finds a way for her to contact him again. Anna tries to resist this enigma of a man but X is persistent enough that she has no choice but to concede.

X knows that Anna is different than any other woman and as he gets to know her better he decides that he needs her in his life even if it’s just as friends. He becomes her companion, her protector as she navigates her way in her new surroundings.

“Have you ever felt a connection with someone without knowing them? When I look at you, I see goodness. I’ve not had a lot of shit happen to me in my life, so when I see something pure, I’m drawn to it…”

That is the reason why I loved this book! From the very beginning the both were attracted to each other but they were able to keep their hormones reigned in and start from the basics – a friendship.

I thought that both characters were great especially Anna. At any time she could have taken advantage of the situation but she was down to earth, sincere and as X describes her – pure. She was a breath a fresh air in his chaotic world. I loved how she was stood by his side and became the essence of tranquility in his messed up life.

In my mind, even if they came from entirely different backgrounds and both have horrendous pasts they ultimately fit perfectly. She was the light in his darkness and became each others reason for living.

Even with the frustrating cliffhanger I enjoyed this book and can not wait to read see Michelle Valentine takes this amazing couple next.

The Verdict:
