In Present Perfect, Brad Johnson was sexy, cocky, rich and a complete Smurff**ker. He could afford anything he wanted and could charm any girl he set his eyes on. Everything was laid out in front of him, all for the taking except the one thing he craved and needed. A tragic event forces him to reevaluate his life. When he tries to change, will the people in his life let him move on from his past or will they constantly hold him to the life altering mistakes he’s made?
Mabry Darnell is intelligent, ambitious, beautiful, and sassy. Secrets from her past haunt the present causing her to question her actions in order to shield her heart and protect her life.
From the moment Brad and Mabry met, their connection was strong, intense, and electrifying. Both knew they had found the one person who could satisfy what the other ached for. When their pasts collide with their present, will it prevent them from having a future together or will love be strong enough to conquer their demons?

Liezel’s Thoughts:
This book definitely took me by surprise. With the way we are introduced to Brad in Present Perfect who would have thought that he would be capable of thinking let alone uttering these wonderous words?
I hated him with a passion in Present Perfect because of the way he treated sweet Amanda and I never would have thought that I would enjoy this book but boy was I wrong. He was pure evil and I didn’t think that the author would be able to ever redeem him but everything that he did was explained perfectly in this book.
Things changed for him after the horrific tragedy involving another woman’s life. If you’ve read the Prologue at the end of Present Perfect you know what I am referring to. Meeting Mabry was an important turning point as well. He never felt anything that came close to what he felt for her and surprisingly she wasn’t willing to reciprocate his feelings. For once Brad is the one that relentlessly chases after a woman.
It was so unexpected that he could be just as romantic as any of our other book boyfriends. To win the girl he laid it on thick and at first I couldn’t grasp why Mabry was so resistant to his charms. Come to find out her upbringing is just as significant as Brad’s and she is just as complex and complicated as he is or perhaps even more so.
“You’re not just the love of my life, Mabry. You are my life.”
As selfish as he was when we first met him, you would think that when he found out the extent of Mabry’s issues he would move on and leave her but his love is so primal and strong enough that he supported her through that difficult time. She was undeniably his heart and his soul and he proves this to her constantly throughout the entire story.
I thought that Allison Bailey would never be able to write anything close to the beauty and amazement of Present Perfect but after reading this I could proudly say that I was sorely mistaken. Past Imperfect is just as spectacular as its predecessor. I loved how she was able to convincingly turn a character so hateful into someone so passionate, devoted and so loving.
I loved that it wasn’t just about this blazing romance. It also dealt with real life issues that certainly opened my eyes, providing me with so much more awareness on these serious issues and difficult situations.
Loved this entire series and I can not wait to see what Alison has in store for us next.
