Mal Ericson, drummer for the world famous rock band Stage Dive, needs to clean up his image fast—at least for a little while. Having a good girl on his arm should do the job just fine. Mal doesn’t plan on this temporary fix becoming permanent, but he didn’t count on finding the one right girl.
Anne Rollins never thought she’d ever meet the rock god who plastered her teenage bedroom walls—especially not under these circumstances. Anne has money problems. Big ones. But being paid to play the pretend girlfriend to a wild life-of-the-party drummer couldn’t end well. No matter how hot he is. Or could it?

Liezel’s Thoughts:
“Life’s a song, Anne. Let’s play.”
Have you ever read a book that made you grin throughout the entire story? The second installment in Kylie Scott’s Stage Dive series sure did just that for me. I thought the title was very much fitting since it was overall entertaining and very much playful.
Malcolm is the drummer of famous band Stage Dive while Anne works at a bookshop. At first it doesn’t seem that they would be a proper fit right? I sure was wrong. From the very first encounter, Anne makes one serious impression. As soon as Mal gets that particular reaction from Anne he becomes determined to make her a part of his life – permanently. Because of Anne’s dire financial situation when he presents her with a proposition, she can not afford to say “no” and this is where their pseudo relationship starts.
Anne was expecting to be playing a part as a stand-in girlfriend and while she is functioning perfectly in the role they both realize how natural their relationship is. Malcolm goes through some very difficult issues in the story but someway, somehow Anne is always there to balance him out. Anne compliments Malcolm in every way and in return he gives her the love, attention and devotion that she deserves. If you ask me their pairing is just phenomenal.
What made the best impression on me though was Malcolm. He was certainly not like any other book boyfriend that I’ve ever met before. He is overwhelmingly imposing and somewhat pushy – but not in the bad way. I mean lets be serious here, who wouldn’t want their all time favorite rocker barreling headstrong into their life? Even if Anne could ever say “no” to this guy he could undoubtedly find a way to convince her into doing just about anything. The man is that irresistible!
I thought David and Evelyn’s story (Book 1: Lick) was terrific but if you compare it to Mal and Anne’s story, theirs is certainly more striking. Just like Malcolm did with Anne, he imbedded his way deep under my skin and I would have to say that he will be a character I sure won’t be forgetting anytime soon.
I immensely enjoyed this book. It had the perfect balance of love, romance, humor, and friendship and I’m looking forward to seeing how Ben and/or Jimmy story plays out next.
