The epic romance between an all-American beauty and her Aussie continues in this final installment of The Beauty Series.
Jack McLachlan is fulfilled by more than he dared to dream possible. He finds everything he never knew he wanted—or needed—in Laurelyn Prescott, his last and final companion. Life is beautiful with his beloved by his side but their post-wedded bliss is cut short when his dark past springs into their present happiness. He wants to shelter Laurelyn but keeping her untainted by his previous life proves impossible when yesterday’s sins insist on returning to haunt him. Will it be possible for them to find happiness in their forever with a past like his?
Beauty From Love is an adult contemporary novel and is not intended for younger readers due to mature content.
Liezel’s Thoughts:
Beauty From Love continues exactly where Beauty From Surrender left off with Jack Henry and Laurelyn now husband and wife. If you’ve read the previous books you know the ordeal that both had to go through to get to where they are now… so seeing them this happy was quite a relief for me.
While they should be in this state of newlywed bliss, Jack’s past finally catches up with him. He is continuously being approached, hounded and propositioned by his previous companions. Even if Laurelyn knows of his history she still finds these situations painful and humiliating. He tries to guard her from these unavoidable events but it just isn’t possible to protect her from every blow.
At one point in time the issue became so difficult I was sure that Laurelyn would finally give up on their relationship but because of her commitment, love and adoration for Jack she firmly stands by his side. Laurelyn isn’t the only one that feels this profound love – Jack feels the exact same way or maybe even more so.
“I never imagined myself loving a woman the way I love you. You changed my everything.”
As you have witnessed in the previous books…Jack Henry is over the top passionate and romantic. You would think that after their nuptials the ways he shows his devotion would start to become repetitive and their romance would start to fizzle but that never happens to them. Even when she is “indisposed” he finds other methods to make her feel just as sexy and loved. I can’t even tell you how much I swooned over Jack Henry’s tactics. The Jack that we meet in Beauty From Pain has definitely come a very long way compared to the Jack in Beauty From Love.
So what I thought about the book in general? I thought the finale was good considering the very HEA we got in the end but I was expecting just a little bit more. The first half of the book was fantastic. I loved how they came together as husband and wife and how they got through the ups and downs together. As those issues resolved you could tell that it made their relationship stronger.
The other half of the book though is where I had issues. I thought that it was too drawn out and too detailed. On the other hand, it was quite educational too. I honestly wished that the epilogue was longer. I wanted to read more about their life together as parents and perhaps maybe seeing her do more with career. I do however respect the fact that family became Laurelyn’s top priority instead.
All in all I would have to say that I enjoyed the final installment of Jack Henry and Laurelyn’s story and I am sure Beauty From Pain fans like me would agree that they are sad to see their beautiful story come to an end.
