Liezel’s Thoughts:
This is the very first Felicity Heaton book that I have read and after this book I would have to say it will definitely will not be the last. From the very beginning Ms. Heaton was able to capture my attention and hold it until the very end.
I thought the character building was fantastic. Loren was a torn elven prince out to capture his traitorous brother. With his unique skills, this did seem like an easy task but because of the immense love and confidence that he had in his brother he was hesitant to do the deed. Once he first meets his “ki’ara”, his one fated female he exhibits so much control which I also found quite admirable. He is caring and protective even when Olivia is determined to avoid him at all costs.
His counterpart Olivia is just as amazing. Her grim past molds her into this driven yet compassionate woman. She dedicated her life to science – learning as much as she can for the betterment of the human race. She is a scientist who you would think would be boring right? Not so much, she is sassy and sexy. Provocative even-which leads to some carnal and passionate scenes with our hero Loren.
The supporting characters were also outstanding and I was quite impressed how the author was able to smoothly introduce us to the next couple in the series.
There were multiple unexpected twist and turns in this story most especially in the end. Each of these components was precisely delivered at just the right moment generating tremendous amounts of tension and unpredictability which I love in my paranormal romance novels.
I thought this book was a great start to a new series and can not wait to read more.
