It didn’t matter that the ref called it a clean hit. Nico Hunter would never be the same.

Elle has a good life. A job she loves, a great apartment, and the guy she’s been dating for more than two years is a catch and a half.  But it’s boring…and she strives to keep it that way. Too many emotions are dangerous. Her own past is living proof of what can happen when you lose control.

Then Nico walks into Elle’s office and everything changes…for both of them. But what can the tattooed, hard-bodied MMA fighter and the beautiful and always steady attorney have in common? A lot more than they bargained for.

Liezel’s Thoughts:

When I first read this book synopsis I was immediately intrigued. What could these two possibly have in common? They come from two whole different backgrounds, lifestyles and professions and yet their separate life experiences seemed to have led them to one another.

I enjoyed getting to know both of the main characters of this book . I thought that Elle was admirable for many reasons. Mostly because of her courage and strength that she possessed. I loved that she was able to get the help that she needed  to accept and move on from  the horrible ordeal she had growing up. She was loyal to those close to her,  intelligent yet sexy, playful and also down to earth. I loved that even with her busy schedule that she was selfless and generous enough to give back to her community.

Just as Elle was the total package, Nico was too. I thought he was a walking contradiction and not in a bad sense. As a fighter he had this tough, scary persona but when it came to dealing with his family and friends he was this soft, lovable man with a gentle heart. I appreciated how close he was with his family and how they played an important role in his life. I loved how despite the chemistry and attraction that they both had that he was always respectful towards Elle and took his time getting to know her rather than jumping straight into a physical relationship.

“…there’s no name for two people becoming so entangled in each other that they get lost. For wanting someone so badly that your body trembles waiting for more. So much more…”

I adored this couple together. I did have my doubts how the author was going to pull this one off but she did so superbly. In my opinion  their  differences  made their pairing even the more interesting.  I love how they were supportive of each other. When Elle was feeling down it takes just one look for her to realize that he was there to support her no matter what. Their passion? Exceptional! For a woman with so much control in  life I was pleased that she was willing to relinquish all that control to that one alpha  < yummy > male.

I loved  this  story line and thought the writing flowed  naturally. What I love most about it was how descriptive it was.  The way the author was able to detail Elle’s struggles from her past, how she portrayed Nico’s regret and remorse and depict the love and their primal need  for each other was outstanding.

About Vi Keeland

Vi Keeland is a native New Yorker with three children that occupy most of her free time, which she complains about often, but wouldn’t change for the world. She is a bookworm and has been known to read her kindle at stop lights, while styling her hair, cleaning, walking, during sporting events, and frequently while pretending to work. She is a boring attorney by day, and an exciting smut author by night!
