When Harvard Law student, Dylan Ackhart, moves to Boston with her best friend- the last thing she expects to find is Jeremy Mason. Jeremy is sexy, smart, and passionate- and currently the most famous rock star in the world.
From the first moment Dylan meets Jeremy, she's attracted to him. But she soon finds the fame and press can wear on you. Plus, Jeremy seems to be hiding things from her- including his relationship with the mysterious blue-haired girl.
Tracks takes you on a ride through the not so glamorous side of dating a rock star- sex, drugs, rock and roll.
Liezel’s Thoughts:
Talk about one unlikely pairing. Dylan isn’t even into music but somehow lands one of the most popular musicians in the world. While I did have my doubts on how they would make it work I found that their relationship that started with physical attraction immediately develops into a deeper emotional connection.
I enjoyed reading Dylan and Jeremy’s story. I couldn’t help but cheer them on. What I appreciated most about it was it isn’t painted as a pretty picture. It’s not all hearts and flowers. It’s raw and intense and deals with difficult issues and choices and how despite all the challenges thrown their way they were still able to get through it together.
I loved both characters. Yeah Dylan did seem a little naïve but I was glad that she finally put her foot down and was strong enough to let go. Despite all the stress she was motivated enough to follow her dream of becoming a lawyer. It also great that she had help along the way.
“I love you, Dylan. I’ll never want anyone else. You’re everything to me, my reason for living. Nothing’s ever meant anything to me before you.”
Jeremy’s character was pretty complex. He had his ups and downs based on his cycle. He was romantic one minute, cold the next. When he finally came to the realization what was at stake, he became tenacious and determined. He knew that things would be difficult but he went through with it and made a huge sacrifice to keep his girl.
To me the only setback I felt in this book was the ending. It ended too soon. Yes it does have a slight cliffhanger and I for one did become fully vested in both the characters. That being said, the next book titled “Trials” is stressing me out! They’ve been through so much hardship already. Can they possibly handle that much more? I’m hoping so otherwise Dylan and Jeremy won’t be the only ones heartbroken. Beyond that, I thought it was perfect.
If you’re looking for a swoon-worthy, intense and emotional rock romance, I think this would be a very good choice. Recommended.
The Verdict:
Excerpt:
I stand back and look at him. His face still has a sheen of sweat, his eyes beautiful and glassy. His cheeks look unbelievably chiseled in the light, aided by the dark black scruff on his face. His lips are pale pink, and I watch them turn up in a smile. The realization hits me that this brilliant, gorgeous man is somehow now officially mine.
I run my arms up his bare chest and push the shirt off from his shoulders. It falls to the floor. I lean over and kiss along his collar bone. He sighs, grabbing my hair. I trail my fingers down his chest, letting my fingernails dig into him.
“Careful,” he says breathlessly. “We won’t make it to bed.”
I stand up straight and look in his eyes, undoing my zipper and letting my dress fall to the floor. I step out of it. “Good,” I say, low and deep.
He grabs my chin hard. “Oh, Miss Ackhart.” He kisses me hard, biting my bottom lip. He pulls away. “You’re in trouble,” he says, his eyes burning with desire.
