Maggie never thought she’d see Clay again. So, she attempts to put her life back together after her heart has been shattered to pieces. Moving on and moving forward, just as Clay wanted her to.

Clay never stopped thinking of Maggie. Even after ripping their lives apart and leaving her behind to get the help he so desperately needed. He is healing...slowly. But his heart still belongs to the girl who tried to save him.

When a sudden tragedy brings Maggie and Clay face to face again, nothing is the same. Yet some things never change. Can the darkness that threatened to consume them be transformed into something else and finally give them what they always wanted? And can two people who fought so hard to be together, finally find their happiness? Or will their demons and fear drive them apart for good?

The thing about love, is even when it destroys you, it has a way of mending what is broken. And in the shadows, you can still see the light.

Liezel’s Thoughts:

How do you keep going when you feel like your life is over?

It starts out with Clay’s treatment in Florida. We see how he is so lost without Maggie May in his life. Even after writing that letter asking her to move on, he always wanted her. His treatment plan was always focused on getting back to her and their future together. He celebrates his birthday at the treatment center and there he reconnects with Maggie over a phone call. After all those weeks of silence Maggie is just speechless. She wanted to tell him how much he still means to her but instead she comes out mean, angry and bitchy.

“Even though things had gotten ugly between us, my love for her was the one pure thing in my life. I wanted to keep it all to myself and not share it with anyone. She was the last thing I thought about before I went to sleep and the first thing my mind went to when I woke up.”

Like said in the synopsis, tragedy hits back in Virginia and Clay is forced to leave therapy earlier than planned. Originally he was planning to be there for a couple of days but with her family needing him he decides to stay and reenroll into high school. Being that Davidson is such a small town he couldn’t help  bumping into Maggie. At first he was tormented about this, the guilt he felt with what he put Maggie through. He sends her mixed signals but finally she confronts him and they reconcile. And what a beautiful reconciliation it is!

“I don’t want to wake up ten years from now regretting that I let this slip through my fingers. I don’t want to waste another moment without you in my life.”

Despite this Clay still continues to struggle. Everyday is a continued battle even with medication, therapy and joint sessions. But somehow he manages to keep it together. Barely. While Clay and Maggie should be planning their future together, he decides the unthinkable and readmits himself. Which is of course disappointing but necessary not only for him but for their future.

So about Clay, he was terrific this time around. He demonstrated strength with Ruby and dealing with her mourning. He set the rules with Maggie and stood by them despite all the physical temptation. Returning to school was difficult but he took it like a champ and just let the ignored the teasing and taunting. His best yet was deciding to go back to Florida after graduation.

“I don’t  know what I did to deserve you . I will try every single day to make sure I’m worthy of the faith you put in me.”

I loved that everyone supported them when they got back together.  Rachel and eventually Daniel, Ruby and Maggie’s parents. Maggie’s parents doubted her decision in the beginning but ends up accepting him into their home and despite their past they trusted her to make the right choices this time around. Ruby’s words were heartwarming and so true. Despite her sadness she was able to reach out to Maggie.

“Whatever your hesitations, don’t let them get in the way of living your life with the person you love. Lisa and I wasted too much time in the beginning worrying about what everyone else thought…Promise me, Maggie, to follow your heart and not your head.”

The wait for this one was agonizing, but in the end it was worth the wait. It was perfection! Every detail , every emotion, every single scene was written in a way where you couldn’t help but empathize. And that was what this story way above the rest. This is just one story that you can’t ignore. Read it, it’s life changing!

What I would have changed in this story? Not a damn thing. Like I said everything was perfect even the epilogue. I just hope that there is more to this story. I would love to hear a story about Maria.
