Can love survive when life gets Reckless?
When the band hits it big, Kiera and Kellan must ask themselves: Can their love for each other survive the constant pressures of superstardom? The friendships they've formed, the new family they've found, and the history they've forged will all play a part in helping them navigate the turbulent waters of the band's exploding popularity. A greedy executive hell-bent on success, a declining pop star looking for an edge, and a media circus that twists lies into truths are just some of the obstacles the lovers will have to overcome if they are going to remain together. Fame comes with a price-but will it cost Kiera and Kellan everything?
Liezel’s Thoughts:
“I love you too, Kiera. Just you. You’re my always.”
I am certain that a lot of you would agree with me that this has to be one of the best rock star romances out there. So what is the big deal? Why are we all going crazy about this book? Is wasn’t just a Kellan and Kiera love story , well if you really think about it that was what book 1 and 2 was all about. Book 3 proved to us that it was more than that. It was also about a rock stars journey, about loyalty and friendship, about discovering family and also about personal growth and finding oneself. I was honestly hoping to get a 315 page ordinary finale BUT what I go was a full-out 500+ page book that just blew everything that I’ve read out of the water.
“I was remembering all the reasons why I love you so much. I was appreciating everything you do, and everything you are. I was falling in love with you, all over you.”
First of, I would like to comment on friendship. As you know Denny and Kellan were friends way before the KK affair happened. While most people would never even think about rebuilding their relationship after all that had happened, Denny and Kellan were able to get over it. It was never easy but Kellan’s accident was a turning point in book 3. The way that Denny professed how much they valued their friendship was just perfect. Then there is Denny and Kiera’s friendship. Despite the affair they too were able to rebuild and become best friends. To me that is truly rare. The friendship surrounding the band members and their significant others was good as well. I love how Evan, Matt and even Griff were supportive of Kellan’s decision. They were willing to give up their stardom and tell the truth about how the record label manipulated them just for rating. They just didn’t want their friends to continue on with the lies and continue getting hurt.
Family comes next. I loved that after all Kellan went through, he was able to find his real father and develop a relationship with his newfound siblings. When both Kellan and Kiera’s family met I giggled at how Kiera’s mom found Gavin attractive even with her husband being in the same room. Even the simple details like this just made the story truly perfect. In the end when they celebrated it just wasn’t for the record, it was a HUGE celebration for all of them and what they have been through together as friends and family. And I loved how they were all able to share it with each other.
“Never again. I don’t care what’s at stake. I don’t care who I have to let down. I won’t ever do that to you again. You…or me. I’m done playing their game.”
The KK romance was just simply incredible. Kellan character was just oh so romantic, loving, he was willing to give up anything for Kiera, even his dream to become a rock star… he was willing to give it all up just for her. His antics to see that she was always happy was truly delightful. The best scene that I could think of (and there were many) is what he did for her for her bachelorette party. I mean come on… that seriously had to be one of the best scenes ever. I am glad that even they weren’t legally married he treated her like they really were. And that she was with him every step of his blooming career. He wanted to share everything her and demanded that she be included in every meeting. Although the wedding was unconventional, the vows made up for it in every way.
About Kiera, I loved that she was dedicated to Kellan. She was willing to make the sacrifices to help Kellan launch his career even if she knew that it would wound her deeply. I was impressed that even if she didn’t need to work she still decided to be a writer and make it on her own. She could have agreed and used the Kyle name to promote her book but took it upon herself to earn her own keep.
“Passion, friendship, love, loyalty, trust ….if you found the right person…you really could have it all.”
Perfect read in my opinion, the beginning was kind of long and boring but I think all of that was necessary to get the rest of the story. I would have not changed a thing about this book. Even the epilogue was just PERFECT. This is just one of those books that you will read over and over again. It will be a while before another book comes along to top this one.
The Verdict:
My Casting choices:
Normally, I pick really popular actors/actresses for my picks but for this one I already had a Pinterest fan choice always picked in my head. I always agreed that Devin Paisley is the perfect Kellan Kyle.
For Kiera maybe Jana Kramer?
