First we meet Alexa Berry, gorgeous, classy – sassy. Despite all the crap that gets thrown her way all through out her life, she never gives up, pushes through, keeps her head up and survives. She gets mixed into the gang life because of her gunned down boyfriend and becomes tied to Shift, a man thought to be on her side but was well in fact the cause of her boyfriends death. To escape her bond from Shift, Lexie decides to team up with Ty. Ty Walker just released from prison being incarcerated for five long years for a crime he never committed. Ty’s first order of business is vengeance. He ropes Lexie into a plan using her as an eventual alibi but ends up falling for her in the process.
When Ty finally brought her home to Carnal, she was so surprised at how warm of a welcome they both received. She got so emotional after being introduced to everyone because she never had a family to call hers and practically the whole town accepted her as one of their own. As she gets introduced to everyone, she realized that Ty is really a good man. As the story goes on we eventually find out how complicated the town of Carnal has become mostly because of the corrupted law system. And no matter what distraction Lexie tries to do to protect him Ty is set on getting his vengeance.
“…he didn’t give me a chance to give him a soft kiss of gratitude. Instantly, his fingers slid into my hair, cupping my head and his mouth opened over mine making a demand. Mine complied. His tongue spiked into my mouth and I liked the taste of it, I hadn’t had it in what seemed like a decade, I missed it and he tasted so fucking goof my body pressed into his and not because his around me grew tight.”
Watching a strong and tough egotistical man fall so hard for one sassy woman with so many idiosyncrasies was just so heartwarming. Oh yeah he tried to fight it, as he’s never felt something like this before and her leaving proved that theirs was a relationship worth fighting for. The beautiful thing about this story is it just wasn’t about an unlikely relationship, it was also about building and rebuilding relationships. About how the whole town was willing to contribute to get their town from under a black cloud that has been hovering over the town for years.
If you honestly asked me which one is my favorite so far… it would be a real hard decision but right now after the first three books I am leaning towards Sweet Dreams. There was just so much to love about Tatum and Laurie… I found myself smiling and swooning all throughout the book. I swear the husband thought I was going mad. But no lies, each and every one is simply amazing. I personally have lots of love for Kristen Ashley books. ♥

My casting pick:
I think Anna Paquin would make a lovely Lexie. Sexy as all get out. And this hottie ( Charles Divins) as Ty Walker. As you know he was mixed breed.
What I would love to see in the next couple books?
I would love to see the town further improve and evolve. I’m hoping Tate decides to go back into law enforcement. Or maybe we can get Angel ( Lexie’s hero) move into town. I was really hoping that one of Lexie’s adoptive sisters would fall in love with a mountain man but they came to Thanksgiving dinner with men of their own. I really am hoping that Miss Ashley adds an asian heroine in one of her books. Every story has to have an Asian! Right? As a matter of fact, I just might have to email her about that.
